Our Philosophy
Was steckt hinter WiaNui?
Im Jahre 2015 wurde Südtirols erster upcycling concept store in Brixen eröffnet. Dabei stehen besonders upcycling Produkte im Mittelpunkt, die von lokalen Sozialgenossenschaften, heimischen KünstlerInnen und DesignerInnen sowie Werkstätten für Menschen mit Beeinträchtigung kreiert werden. Zudem wird in der eigenen Nähwerkstatt eine eigene Produktlinie aus unterschiedlichen “alten” Materialien kreiert.
Der Name WiaNui (= wie neu auf südtirolerisch) spiegelt unsere nachhaltige 0 km Philosophie wieder.
Darüberhinaus besteht eine Zusammenarbeit mit den Brixner Stadtwerken, um das Bewusstsein um das Abfallproblem in den verschiedenen Schulstufen zu schaffen. Die nachhaltige Idee des Projektes “Alles Müll oder was?”, an dem bis heute 1500 SchülerInnen teilgenommen haben, wurde 2017 mit dem Energiepreis Südtirol ausgezeichnet und für den Umweltpreis Euregio (Tirol - Südtirol - Trentino) nominiert.
Was bedeutet denn eigentlich „upcycling“?
Beim Upcycling werden nicht mehr gebrauchte und so wertlos gewordene Materialien einer neuen Verwendung zugeführt. Mittels Kreativität entstehen nützliche und dekorative Produkte mit einem größeren Wert als im einfachen Recycling.
Cos’è WiaNui?
Nel 2015 il primo Upcycling Concept Store del Alto Adige è stato aperto a Bressanone, specializzandosi sui prodotti di Upcycling che vengono realizzati da WiaNui grazie al lavoro di persone con un passato di fragilità (che meritano una seconda opportunità), da altre cooperative e di artisti locali (in un’ottica di sostenibilità).
È stato scelto il nome “WiaNui” in dialetto sudtirolese per sottolineare la nostra filosofia 0 Km. Con l’acquisto dei nostri prodotti sosteniamo tutti insieme il lavoro di tali istituzioni.
Addizionalmente, cooperiamo con l’azienda municipalizzata “ASM Bressanone SpA” per accrescere la consapevolezza sull’importanza di ridurre i rifiuti in prospettiva di un futuro sostenibile, organizzando congiuntamente programmi scolastici, nei quali gli alunni, ad oggi più di 1.500. Questo progetto è stato insignito con il premio di energia Alto Adige 2017 ed è stato nominato per il premio ambientale Euregio (Tirolo – Alto Adige – Trentino).
Ma che cosa è questo “upcycling”?
È l'arte di (ri)convertire materiali di prodotti inutilizzati e dargli nuova vita. Ovvero creare qualcosa di nuovo da una materia apparentemente di scarto, dandogli un valore in più del semplice riciclo.
What does WiaNui stand for?
In 2015 WiaNui opened its doors as the first South-Tyrolean upcycling concept store, located in the heart of Bressanone’s old town. We specialize in upcycled products - manufactured in WiaNui by people with a past of fragility (who deserve a second chance), other local co-ops or by local artists (while always keeping in mind sustainability.)
We chose the name WiaNui in order to reflect our 0 km philosophy and the South Tirolean culture.
Additionally, in order to raise awareness on the importance of waste reduction for sustainability, we have joined forces with the local waste recycling company “Stadtwerke Brixen” and organized a program for schools, in which more than 1.500 students to date have been given the possibility to visit the recycling centre. The project has won the Prize of Energy Alto Adige 2017 and has been nominated for the Environmental Euregio Prize.
What does „upcycling” actually mean?
Upcycling is taking an item that is no longer needed or wanted and giving it a new life as something that is useful and creative and therefore of higher quality and value than mere recycling.
